The China-aided M1 road upgrade project in Lilongwe was officially handed over to the Malawian government on Friday, April 10, according to Xinhua News Agency. The $25 million infrastructure project marks ongoing bilateral cooperation between Malawi and Beijing, aimed at improving national transport networks.

Meanwhile, international grassroots support for Malawi's healthcare system continued this week as the United States-based charity Malawi Children's Initiative hosted its annual Run for Malawi 5K event on April 11. Organised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the fundraiser generates financial support for training paediatric residents and equipping emergency departments at Kamuzu Central Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, according to event organisers.
