Malawian Afropiano star Zeze Kingston has teamed up with Zambian superstar Yo Maps for a new collaborative single titled "Ndilira Mumvula," which features contributions from producers HarryCane and Leumas. According to Zedwap Music, the track is currently trending upward across digital platforms and has seen a 25 percent increase in weekly streams. The song merges emotional storytelling with modern Afro-beats production, serving as Kingston's latest high-profile cross-border collaboration.

In local hip-hop news, veteran Malawian artist Hyphen, formerly known as Young Kay, reflected on his two decades in the music industry during an in-depth interview on the ZaNyimboTV podcast released on April 10. According to the episode's release details, the rapper discussed the evolving economics of Malawian hip-hop, the realities of corporate sponsorship, and his strategies for maintaining relevance. The interview follows his recent return to the spotlight with the heavily discussed single "Tiziti Mwayiwala".

The Malawian digital music scene also saw independent activity this week. Local music platform Amati Zambiri highlighted several tracks on April 10, including a new release titled "Alhamdulillah" by Bandera Wachiyao. The platform also re-promoted Cizo's 2024 track "Osafooka", adding to the ongoing stream of urban and Afro-pop content available to local listeners.

Update: Organisers of the Lake of Stars Malawi Arts Festival have officially unveiled the theme for their upcoming October 2026 return to Nkhotakota. According to an April 10 press release via Triple M Entertainment, the 2026 theme is "Festivals with Purpose: Inspire, Connect, Invest, Celebrate". The festival plans to expand its focus beyond live music by integrating community empowerment initiatives, including a youth ideas platform and the Mbalame Village Soccer Tournament. The tournament was inspired by Malawian football icon Temwa Chawinga and aims to promote female participation in rural sports.
