The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) released its City Campus admission offers on April 11, selecting 1,000 candidates for the 2026/2027 academic year. According to a university press release, the selection includes 830 male and 170 female students. The institution noted that all admitted students will be self-sponsored and non-residential. This aligns with a government policy of admitting students based on available classroom space rather than accommodation capacity. Admission letters for the City Campus cohort will be distributed starting the week of April 13.

In a related update, the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) officially approved the admission of 3,571 candidates on April 9. This figure exceeds the 2,500 student enrollment target previously set under the university's restructured academic calendar. According to a MUBAS council statement, the new cohort comprises 1,987 males and 1,594 females accepted into various face-to-face and open, distance, and e-learning (ODeL) programmes.

To manage the larger group of students, MUBAS has adopted a dual intake model. The university stated that 2,301 face-to-face students will begin their studies in July 2026, while another 350 will commence in January 2027. Furthermore, the university confirmed the admission of 12 candidates with special needs.
