The National Council for Higher Education has deregistered Pentecostal Life University for what it called persistent failure to meet minimum operational standards, with the decision set to take effect once published in the Gazette, according to Malawi24. Malawi24 reports NCHE made the decision at an extraordinary meeting on August 11, 2025, and the Minister responsible for Education approved it on September 12, 2025.
NCHE said qualifications awarded before gazetting will remain valid, according to Malawi24. Malawi24 reports that at a later extraordinary meeting on February 16, 2026, NCHE directed the institution to prepare students and staff for the deregistration, facilitate transfers for eligible students, and submit a comprehensive database of current students and graduates within 60 days.
