Update: Following earlier reports on the Dowa police investigation into the murder of FDH Bank employee Tathokoza Salimu, authorities have now arrested Bishop Medram Chirwa of the Fountain of Victory Church in Lilongwe, according to Nyasa Times. Salimu was discovered dead in her vehicle near Tatolonga Bridge in September with a gunshot wound to the neck. In an executive memo released on October 9, Apostle Joseph Ziba defended the arrested bishop and stated that the church is unaware of any conclusive evidence linking Chirwa to the killing. Ziba noted that police searches of the bishop's residence did not yield a weapon or any of the victim's belongings, Nyasa Times reports.

Update: In a continuation of the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) tarpaulin scandal, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has issued a formal restriction notice blocking the disputed K3 billion contract, reports the Malawi Freedom Network. Acting Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General Gabriel Chembezi issued the October 9 directive. The order strictly prohibits the state grain trader from awarding the tender to Maiden Investment or any other supplier without written consent from the bureau. This intervention follows public questions over the proposed pricing of approximately K30 million per tarpaulin, according to Nyasa Times.
