Looking ahead to the upcoming rainy season, the Southern African Development Community released its regional climate outlook on Thursday, forecasting that a strong El Niño event will shape weather patterns across the continent. According to Xinhua and the SADC Climate Services Centre, the extreme northern parts of Malawi are expected to receive normal to above-normal rainfall between October 2026 and March 2027. This forecast contrasts with expectations for much of central and southern Africa, which are predicted to face below-normal rainfall and drier conditions.
