Exhibitors are making their final preparations for the 22nd National Agriculture Fair, which opens tomorrow, August 27, at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre. According to MBC Digital, the three-day event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Operating under the theme "Transforming Agriculture through Innovation, Value Addition, and Market Linkages," the fair will be officially opened by Minister of Agriculture Roza Fatch Mbilizi and aims to facilitate technology transfer, trade discussions, and market access for farmers.

Update: Following previous coverage regarding the Farm Inputs Subsidy Programme reverting to paper coupons, the Ministry of Agriculture has officially unveiled its full operational guidelines for the upcoming season. Nation Online reports that the initiative will halve its beneficiary list to 610,931 farmers. The programme's budget has also seen a heavy reduction, operating on a K111.5 billion parliamentary allocation compared to the K241 billion spent last season. To promote soil health and food security, the new reforms will make the production and use of Mbeya organic fertiliser mandatory for all participating farmers.
